Coronavirus Threat Pushes Binance To Postpone Vietnam Blockchain Week

The world is currently struggling to deal with the outbreak of yet another infectious disease with the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring the novel coronavirus outbreak as a global health emergency.

The situation in China and the other 14 countries where there is a presence of confirmed cases of being infected from the virus is far from manageable.

With no cure or vaccine available as of now, experts have advised that prevention is better than cure. Further, the world is still unaware of the novel coronavirus‘ means of spreading.

Keeping all these factors in mind, the global cryptocurrency exchange platform, Binance, has announced that it will be postponing its upcoming Binance Blockchain Week Vietnam until further notice.

In an official statement that was released on the crypto platform’s blog today, Binance informed the crypto community that the decision taken due to health concerns over the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The Binance Blockchain Week Vietnam scheduled initially between February 29th, 2020, to March 4th, 2020. It scheduled to held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The statement further addressed the fact that more than 10,000 people have diagnosed with the novel Coronavirus as of the end of January.

The statement addressed to Binancians, revealed that not only is the crypto platform closely following the updates of the epidemic, but it has also pledged $1.5million in support for the various anti-outbreak efforts.

The platform is also providing logistic support in China. The blog further added that it is Binance’s priority to ensure that no attendees of any of their events face a health or safety risk.

As public gatherings pose a major health risk in the current situation, the company has decided to postpone the event and announce alternative dates once effective control of the epidemic is possible.

Binance has also announced a full refund for anyone who already registered to the event and promised to release further updates on the same soon.

“We look forward to reconnecting with you in Vietnam soon. In the meantime, we hope that you are all safe and healthy” concluded the statement. As the world fights the new epidemic that has overtaken normal lives in many countries, one can only expect more such cancellations or postpones in the future.
