The law enforcement of the Belarus government has initiated a criminal case against an underground miner who has been reportedly stealing electricity without notice. This occurred in the capital city of Belarus, Minsk.
The law enforcement officials said that the accused had allegedly set up mining rigs under an educational institution illegally. The same guy had been interested in cryptocurrency since the year 2017 and has been using the miners to mine token of different hashes.
However, he later realized that the mining rigs are consuming more power than what he can pay for, so he devised a plan to set up the rigs under the children’s educational institution where his father in law had been working. Together they set up the mining rigs inside the pipelines in the basement and had been drawing electricity illegally to do the mining on the rig.
This activity brought under the notice of an employee of the institution when he was in the basement. He saw the rigs taking in power at a continuous rate. This was noted to the educational institutions head and later to the law officials of the city.
Now the miner faces legal charges on property damage and trespassing into the institution. A court hearing is soon to be conducted on the same matter. It is told that this sort of misdeed can make an individual lend up behind bars for up to five years. With better miners, the power consumption of these are also highly rated, the Neighbouring countries such as Ukraine and Russia.
These neighboring countries have also seen a rising large number of mining rig installments occurring in the vicinity which are continuously pulling in power and consuming illegally in hidden nature. Many have adopted this method to profit more from mining by avoiding electricity bills.
