Litecoin founder Charlie Lee sat down to dine with one of the wealthiest investors and men on the planet, Warren Buffet. He attended dinner along with some of his other big shot colleagues in the cryptocurrency world, including TRON founder, Justin Sun, Chris Lee, CFO of Huobi, Yoni Assia, CEO of eToro, and Helen Hai, head of the Binance Charity Foundation.
The dinner took place at the Happy Hollow Club in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 23 at 6:00 PM Central Time, according to a statement.
The dinner was announced in June 2019, with Justin Sun having bid and won the charity lunch with Warren Buffet for $4.6 million. The event was since then postponed due to Sun being ill from kidney stones, but it finally took place six months later with lesser guests than Justin had initially invited on Twitter.
The charity lunch that Warren Buffet conducts every year for the Glide Foundation, a cause that his late wife supported dearly, has been sought after by many, year after year in the auction that he holds. Sun won last year’s bid paying a record high, and the entire event was barraged by media recognition boosting the perception of the cryptocurrency industry with the general public.
Charlie Lee was one of the more praised choices that Sun made for the guest list when he invited Lee back in July 2019, with many seeing the Litecoin founder as one of the better ambassadors for the industry.
This invitation was also a good sign of friendship and good interests between the TRON founder and Litecoin founder. The meeting purportedly included conversations on cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, business, and just life in general.
It was also reported that Buffet made statements that blockchain technology will bring forth very disruptive innovations in the future of payments and that there is huge potential due to the growing demand for better financial services.
Although Warren Buffet has previously criticized Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies multiple times in the past, even calling Bitcoin “rat poison” in the past. The dinner was also a strong educational experience for Buffet to delve into the cryptocurrency world to understand it more and for the cryptocurrency representatives on the other end to receive guidance and advice that they could hopefully apply in their respective sectors.
Sun made a statement on the meeting, saying, “It was an honor, and I’m grateful for Mr. Buffett’s dinner, wisdom, and vision. I’ll always remember his kindness and support, and will take Mr. Buffett’s advice and guidance to make TRON a better ecosystem, business with all the partners in the blockchain space and beyond.”
