BitPay is the world’s largest provider of bitcoin and cryptocurrency payment services and trusted by thousands of businesses worldwide, Partnered with Ripple/ XPRing in October 2019. The partnership made Bitpay to natively support XRP which enabled thousands of businesses to accept Ripple (XRP) cryptocurrency for payments.
In January 2020, Bitpay announced the launch of XRP payment and cross border transfers with added support for XRP in their BitPay wallet app on its twitter handle @Bitpay.

After few weeks on February 12, 2020, Bitpay strengthened itself by integrated with Poynt’s Smart Terminal point-of-sale devices which counts to more than 100,000 Poynt retailers worldwide.

The tweet also clarifies that it doesn’t exclusively support XRP but also other Cryptocurrencies and ensured that now customers can pay with cryptocurrencies to these 100,000 merchants.
The integration was positive news to XRP and Ripple and instantly got a reach to 100k retailers worldwide who can use cryptocurrencies such as XRP as a mode of payment with just the scan of a QR code at checkout or using Poynt’s devices to pay to the integrated POS merchants. The integration exposed ripple to in-store payment on a large scale which is already a processor of more than a billion dollars in cryptocurrency e-commerce annually.
Bitpay + Poynt
On this partnership, BitPay CEO and CO-founder Stephen Pair expressed his excitement towards this joint endeavor and helped to reach this many retailers, an epitome in sale innovation. He also said it is a massive growth opportunity for its payment service. He further added its an important milestone in his mission to make payment faster, more secure and less expensive for the people and businesses.
Poynt recently surpassed nine billion dollars in gross payment volume in one year and growing at an incredible pace. It demonstrates a healthy partnership between these three companies and how the crypto-ecosystem is evolving.
