The social media giant Facebook’s cryptocurrency Libra is on the way towards its development. According to a source, Facebook is looking to create 50 novel jobs for its payments subsidiary Calibra in Ireland.

Facebook to create 50 new jobs by the end of 2020

The company is vigorously recruiting for over 100 roles in Ireland and aims to create 50 new jobs by the end of the year.

On the other side of the world, where many industries are axing their workforce due to severe COVID-19 pandemic, Facebook is unabashed towards its goal by saying its Irish operation is on top priority for the company and is planning to further invest in Ireland.

The popular platform instituted its operation in the Republic since 2009 merely with 30 people. Currently, it owns over 5,000 people across Facebook along with its partner companies. Adding to this, the company owns its office in Dublin and a data center in Clonee, Co Meath. However, in 2017, its Oculus subsidiary launched a research laboratory in Cork.

Established in 2019, Calibra is the core of developing a digital currency approach for the tech giant that is further reframed knowingly under the burden of global regulatory.

The company is eager to continue its investment in Dublin team

Laura Morgan Walsh, the Calibra’s head of operations stated that during the period of global instability, the company is eager to continue its investment in the Dublin team. The company is hiring professionals in fraud, workforce management, customer care, and compliance in order to expand the operation team that supports the Calibra wallet.

Gareth Lambe, the head of Facebook Ireland notified that Ireland plays a vital role in the overall operations of the company globally. The news roared a day after Facebook revealed that it was revising Libra from its original plan.  Regardless of a single cryptocurrency, Libra will reform a chunk of different digital coins knotted to present physical currencies.
