Tapscott during his Virtual Blockchain Week presentation talked regarding the shift to the internet of value from the internet of information. He is also a prominent author in technical aspects.

Don Tapscott: The first era of the digital age is over

Tapscott has stated that the digital age’s first era has got over. This is in accordance with the 25th-anniversary edition of his book ‘Digital Economy,’. He has labeled the first digital age as the internet of information. 

He proclaims that advanced technologies have taken birth, thereby marking the transition to the second digital era. The technologies presently have been employed in almost all aspects including the physical world through to our bodies.

Blockchain: The most innovative creation throughout history

Tapscott has acknowledged that Blockchain has been the biggest innovation throughout history. Don elucidated on how blockchain has opened the possibilities for the economic reorganization towards trusted peer-to-peer network.

Furthermore, he stressed on how blockchain for the very first time in history makes it possible to trust unknown individuals. Hence, calling the distributed ledger technologies (DLT) as a native digital source for trust.

Blockchain platform continues facing hindrance regarding its widespread use

Nonetheless, Tapscott does not forget to add the barriers blockchain has been facing regarding widespread adoption. He stated his argument on how DLT is a driving factor for a keen shift toward distributed value making. 

Also, he further called to attention the challenges blockchain platforms face with respect to scalability and interoperability. In conclusion, he notified the difficulties the innovative platform faces with regard to the development of efficient governance procedures.
