California Giant Berry Farms recently decided to add blockchain with IBM Food Trust. Reportedly, blockchain is compiled to connect the participants of California Giant’s berry supply chain with authorized visibility of permanent data.

The technology will provide transparent visibility to product details through the use of Glass Chain™ integration software. Thereby, the software provides a link of databases to Cal Giant and its customer’s ERP.

California Giant vents its hope in blockchain’s adoption

California Giant’s Operation Director, Thomas Taggart,  believes blockchain compliance will open the window of opportunities to the giant and its partners. Additionally, he says the technology can benefit them in enhancing their operational efficiencies. Apart from that, the compliance of Blockchain can benefit the aspects relating to food safety.

Further stressing the fragility of their food supply chain, Taggart hopes blockchain’s adoption will stabilize this fragility.

 COO, Glassbit, LLC, Peter Townsend is of the perception that Cal Giant continues to prove its industry leadership through what it does. He adds that mature companies can exploit this information to enhance traceability and supply chain visibility. Townsend forbye shares his excitement to see an increase in the number of enterprises and retailers on-boarding.

Moreover, it is worth appreciating the fact that Joe Barsi, California Giant’s President seeks blockchain compliance as a creative initiative. Besides, he believes they have put their first step forward in creating wider opportunities to build safer and quality products. Further, In the long term, he is optimistic about improvements in their food supply chain if more companies take such initiatives.

Furthermore, Tejas Bhatt, Senior Director at Walmart also put forward his opinion in the same context. Bhatt takes pleasure in the fact that they will now be able to analyze their own work through the compliance of the innovative technology. Thereby, empowering trust and transparency as two main driving factors in their food supply chains. Lastly adding that they seek to further fuel blockchain’s adoption through a safe digital food system.
