The leading cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX officially announced that the exchange will update its index weights on 26, June 2020 at 12:00:05 UTC.
The constituents and index weights are reviewed and updated quarterly
BitMEX indices are calculated by using various data sources. However, the calculation of each BitMEX index as a weighted average of the last traded price for each constituent exchange. At present, the exchange utilizes 9 constituents: Binance, Bitstamp, Gemini, Bittrex, Huobi, Itbit, Kraken, Poloniex, and Coinbase.

Moreover, the above-mentioned constituents and index weights are reviewed and updated quarterly. It was last updated on 27 March 2020 at 12:00:05 UTC. The exchange announced the next index weights will be updated on 26 June 2020 at 12:00:05 UTC.
Additionally, the platform notified that any changes pertaining to this activity will be announced on the exchange’s official website. Along with, three weeks prior notice before implementation.
The indices with weights will be published as “NEXT” index
From today, the assumed values of the indices with weights will be published as the “NEXT” index such as.BXBT_NEXT. Besides this, the BitMEX indices weights will be updated soon after each quarterly future gets expired.

Recently, the world’s largest crypto derivatives exchange has been accused of money laundering, wire fraud, and unauthorized money transfer crimes. The plaintiff blamed BitMEX’s parent company and exchange’s top executives for abetting multiple crimes.
However, the plaintiff appealed the court to preserve the email records of the exchange. That describes the exchange was working illegally in the US.
