Ghost has in particular faced many heated arguments and has been a subject for controversies ever since McAfee said that Ghost’s white paper had some of its parts copied from PIVX. PIVX or Private Instant Verified Transaction is an open-source cryptocurrency protocol which mainly focuses on the privacy of the users. PIVX is the result of the hard-fork of DASH. In spite of this, McAfee was adamant about suing PIVX. PIVX also had similar plans to implement a zk-SNARKs focused privacy project which was originally developed by the privacy coin Zcash(ZEC). It is likely to launch in the coming months.

In May, McAfee had tweeted, That PIVX is claiming that the entire protocol’s open source is public. However, the explanation and details of how it actually works are not public while referring to the White Paper.

He further added that claiming that a particular protocol is open source but at the same time also constraining the privacy of the documents considered to be illegal and also added that he will present the above statements in the court.

However, PIVX clarified that no matter what, it cannot be sued because no person has the ownership of its development and is in no way a legal entity
