It includes some major crypto company accounts such as Coinbase, Ripple, Coindesk and so on. All the compromised accounts posted the same sort of message promoting a Bitcoin address with a link which claimed to double the investment sent to that address. However, soon after the hack, the attached link went offline. However, it has been reported that over 400 payments generated in the given address amounting to a total of $121,000.
Twitter Hackers Have Downloaded Personal Data Of The Affected Accounts
However, Twitter on the same day of the mentioned event had assured the platform would investigate the matter to eradicate such instances in the future. Recently, Twitter has announced that the hackers may have used specific tools that were only available for Twitter’s staff and may have downloaded some private data. The crypto scam that happened recently is more or less common in the industry. Twitter has also unveiled that the scammers may have breached and downloaded personal data from the eight accounts that were compromised. However, they couldn’t identify accounts because Twitter did not verify them. There is a possibility that most of them were not high profile hackers. However, It doesn’t affect the intensity of the privacy risks of the accounts whose private data was downloaded. The hackers now have access to the account’s private messages, photos, videos and even the address book of the user.
Hackers Implemented The Social Engineering Skills To Get Access To The Employees Tool
The hackers have used a scheme known as Social engineering to breach the tools only meant for Twitter employees. Social engineering is a process by which people intentionally manipulated into spilling out insider information. Twitter has confirmed that a number of their employees may have fallen into the trap.
