The World Economic Forum’s forthcoming Davos Agenda will include two separate discussions on digital currency.

Cryptocurrency To Be Topic Of Discussion At WEF

Two discussions on cryptocurrency will take place at the World Economic Forum. These sessions will be featured at WEF’s Davos Agenda on January 25th and 27th. This will mark the first time for digital currency to be a topic of discussion at the international organisation.

WEF has previously spoken about Bitcoin and other crypto resources. However, these instances have been occasional. It has referred to Chainlink as a rising tech player and anticipates the crypto industry to positively affect the world. 

According to the Davos Agenda program, the meeting which will be held on 25th is called “Resetting Digital Currencies.” It will feature prominent figures, taking the stage to discuss the opportunities provided by cryptocurrency. It will be headed by Sheila Warren, WEF Blockchain and Strategy Head, along with Andrew Bailey, Bank of England Governor, and Western Union CEO Hikmet Ersek.

The session will commence at 12:00 PM (EST) today.

Davos Agenda

The agenda is conducted over five days. It includes the presence of some of the world’s most prominent figures in government and finance. The digital currency session falls under the summit’s theme featuring “Fairer Economies.” Other topics of discussion include themes exploring different sectors such as “Reimagining Education,”  “Tech for Good,” and “Building Crisis-Resistant Healthcare Systems in a Post-COVID World.” 

WEF To Understand Blockchain Technology

The World Economic Forum is keen on understanding blockchain technology and cryptographic money. The Geneva-based association has even made a digital currency working group. ,which just a month ago distributed its debut audit zeroing in. This newly formed group published its inaugural review in December 2020 on the numerous opportunities for cryptocurrency. The research conducted by the Forum has referred to blockchain technology as a critical driver of sustainability when it comes to digital finance.  

Discussion scheduled on 27th

The discussion will feature four speakers, including Chairman of the National Institute of Financial Research based in Beijing, and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister at the Singapore Government. The prospectus on the forum’s website outlined the impact of Covid-19 on currency, highlighting the transition from using cash to digital transfer of money. It also mentioned that there is a significant increase in the use of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDCs), which will transform the way money is used globally.
