  • Ethereum struck a record-high value on Thursday

Nvidia, a computer chip developer, and technology institution made a significant announcement on Thursday. The company announced that it is all set to release a new category of semiconductors. This is especially for mining Ethereum, the second-leading digital crypto asset.

Nvidia’s new Ethereum mining chip

The name of the new chip wil be Cryptocurrency Mining Processor or CMP. A Nvidia delegate said that the initial cards will go live in March.

Ethereum mining is a program in which technology solves complex math schemes to assist the Ethereum cryptocurrency network. In return, miners get Ethereum, the digital coin that works on the Ethereum network. Ethereum struck a fresh record on Thursday, up above 160% year-to-date to above $1,914.

Ether’s mining designs work the finest on graphics cards. This is a signature type of chip. Miners often purchase various graphics cards and establish them in an exclusive machine to escalate their return.

Nvidia’s existing series of technical chips

Nvidia issued a fresh sequence of graphics cards retailed at PC gamers that are consistently selling out. This was during the last fall. The semiconductor sector is also facing scarcity across the panel. Thursday’s announcement is a clear indication that several demands for Nvidia’s chips arrived from the section of cryptocurrency miners.

Matt Wuebbling, commented that CMP products are traded through verified partners and developed for the best mining execution and competency. He is the head of GeForce marketing at Nvidia.

Nvidia further explained that the RTX 3060, the current chip in its gaming graphics cards sequence, will be redesigned by the end of this year so it won’t mine Ethereum efficiently. The Nvidia representative suggested that the already sold cards, however, such as the RTX 3070 or RTX 3080, are free of any such limitations.

The platform’s official blog post further suggested that the software drivers of RTX 3060 are altered to recognize particular attributes of the mining method associated with the Ethereum cryptocurrency. They also restrict the hash rate, or competency of cryptocurrency mining, by almost 50 percent.

Graphics cards were first created to facilitate superior quality computer games. However, they are now vitally essential for advancing technologies like artificial intelligence.
