Since March 1, 2020, the count of new Bitcoin ATMs established worldwide is reaching a value of 10,000. As per the latest Coin ATM Radar information, the present-day figure of machines exceeds 16,000. It clearly indicates a powerful 57.5% surge, or 9,683 fresh machines, compared to the count of 7,152 during last year.

The surging count of Bitcoin ATMs

In the latter half of 2020, the Bitcoin ATM count observed an evident 80% increase. As initially, the massive majority of machines are likely to be situated in the United States, where 81% are installed.

The U.S. is, thus, witnessing unparalleled growth in the count of these ATMs. The number evidently rose by 177% from March 1, 2020. To be precise, the count surged from 4,945 machines to more than triple its original number with 13,699 on March 10, 2021.

Canada, the nation with the next-biggest figure of Bitcoin ATMs, stands at just 1,268. The count accounts for a rough 7.5% from all over the world.

The countries with the highest Bitcoin ATM installations

According to Coin ATM Radar’s tracking, two of the leading nations in this context are Austria and the United Kingdom. These nations witnessed a somewhat ragged tendency in Bitcoin ATM installations in the past few years. In Austria’s case, the figure of machines reached a peak in May 2019, at 266, and have been falling since then to a count of 153 as of this week, a noteworthy plunge of 42.5%.

In the U.K., the decline is not so distinct, with a high level of 283 in February 2020 in comparison to 199 in the recent numbers, a mere decrease of 30%. Numbers for Europe as a whole reflect a more or less stable but modest surge from a total count of 1,233 machines in March 2020 to reaching the figure of 1,273 as of now.

Coin ATM Radar’s ticker tracing the speed of crypto ATM installation suggested that each day, an installation of 34.6 new ATMs happens consistently. The major volume of such machines exists at a provision of buy-only. In this respective value, 22.4% of them provide assistance for both buy and sell functions.

The U.S., Europe, and Canada represent the lion’s portion of all crypto ATMs worldwide. However, Hong Kong (85 machines), Colombia (46), and the Russian Federation excel as the nations with the biggest number of ATM locations far off the North American and European surroundings.
