Cardano 360 show’s March edition revealed few notable fresh updates for the Cardano community. Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano and the co-founder of Ethereum, has revealed the Alonzo hard fork plan. It is expected that the fork will usher in the smart contract era called Goguen. According to the roadmap discussed in the show, the mainnet launch of the mainnet hard fork combinator (HFC) event is expected in July or August.

Cardano’s Alonzo hard fork’s roadmap

According to Charles Hoskinson, the integration of the hard fork will initially begin at the ledger and node code by March and April. For integration, the Input and Output Global (IOG) is working with twelve so-called “Alpha Partners” to conduct testing in a private testnet.

By the end of April or by earlier in May the team is expecting the public Pioneers Testnet release. Indeed, at the time, developers can begin developing dApps, DeFi, and DEXs using the Plutus on the testnet by April. Moreover, it is known that 1,300 individuals have already applied to be a pioneer.

Later in June, after around two and a half months of testing, the team expects a code freeze. The freeze will kick off the hard fork, and from there, the countdown to the hard fork combinator will begin. However, the length certainly depends upon the integration by crypto assets exchanges.

Cardano 360 show revealed other interesting announcements too

Besides the roadmap to Alonzo hard fork, the Cardano 360 show also brought other exciting announcements. Grigore Rosu, the president and CEO of Runtime Verification, revealed that the developers are about to witness the first execution of the IELE backend within six months. Another more distinguished announcement came from Lars Brunjes, the director of education at IOG. Lars revealed that his team has managed to implement an Uniswap clone as a proof-of-concept in Plutus. Replicating all the essential features, Lars tweeted a demo and a functional user interface (UI).
