  • Snoop Dogg says Bitcoin technology is not just a fad but is here to stay for the long haul
  • The famous hip-hop artist is the first to accept Bitcoin payments for his albums in 2013
  • He has also launched his NFT, which can be bought with cryptos

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., better known to his thousands of fans worldwide as Snoop Dogg, has thrown his full support behind the emerging cryptocurrency industry. While this may not make huge ripples in the market as yet, his remarks positively reinforce the novelty of cryptocurrency among his millions of fans.

Pandemic just a catalyst

In an interview with Vanity Fair, he stated his admiration for blockchain technology and the corresponding cryptocurrency systems. The popularity of cryptos rose exponentially only in the past year. It is evident from Bitcoin’s meteoric stock market rise from a mere $9,000 a few months ago to a whopping $58,000 currently. Many observers attribute this growth to the pandemic, which forced people to stay at home and explore innovations worldwide. However, Snoop Dogg states that the pandemic may have acted just as a catalyst in the process, and Bitcoins were much more than a mere passing craze. He jovially also commented that there was a possibility of “Snoopcoin” being introduced later.

NFTs are the future

Snoop Dogg also appreciated the NFT technology that enabled artists and consumers to be connected more closely. In his case, he said that traditional methods include his fans buying his records, which was bound to be degraded by middlemen to some extent. However, he remarked that the arrival of NFTs enabled him to establish a direct connection with his fans and the community at large while also stating that he will continue to work in this sector.

He also took the interview to launch his NFT named A Journey With the Dogg on the crypto.com platform. It consists of an original track and a talking portrait of his younger self, a Diamond Blunt, and a few Snoop Dogge coins. He stated that it was probable for his next record to be sold with BTC and delivered via drones.
