- The Akon City is expected by 2036; it will open doors to new opportunities and make people see “how beautiful Uganda is.”
- The African crypto cities will be powered by Akoin (AKN), a Stellar blockchain-based cryptocurrency.
The Senegalese-American artist, producer, and philanthropist, Akon, plans to build a second Akon Crypto City in Uganda. Announced Monday, at a news conference, the East African nation agreed to allocate land, not less than half the City of London area, for the project. However, any detail about the city’s estimated cost hasn’t yet been disclosed by either of them.
Akon’s Vision of a “futuristic” City: Plans & Timeline
The famous rapper said his Crypto City would draw more investment and help create job opportunities for Ugandans. He predicts the city completion will take around 15 years, so Akon City is expected to be ready in 2036.
Previously, the “Smack That” singer proposed and spent $6 billion to build a “futuristic” city in Senegal. The Senegalese encrypted city project will span over 2,000 acres, about 3.12 square miles in area. The two African crypto cities will use Akoin (AKN), a Stellar blockchain-based cryptocurrency. With this, the successful R&B artist aspires to create a real-life version of Wakanda, the futuristic African kingdom portrayed in Marvel’s “Black Panther” and make people see “how beautiful Uganda is.”
Akoin Powers Akon’s Projects
Before this, the Akoin project also invested $2 billion and cooperated with Kenya’s large-scale medical technology city Mwale, where Akoin will be fully deployed and be dealt with in employee salaries and everyday transactions.
Akoin (AKN) was officially launched on 11 November and first listed with Bittrex Global. Created by the thriving artist and entrepreneur, Akon’s Akoin is trading on the global crypto exchange, and the token is available for the users to purchase. The Akoin team has already launched their AKN debit card, enabling cardholders to spend Akoin worldwide on 40 million online merchants.
Smart Cities and AKN
Akon’s envisioned the AKN tokens power eco-friendly smart cities, and thus to be in any way associated with the cities, one must use the cryptocurrency. Seeing as the token is just a few months old now, AKN’s investment safety isn’t very high. However, it seems like the wheels are turning in their favor, given some time, the token shows excellent growth potential.
