The cryptocurrency community is well-aware of Tesla CEO Elon Musk opening Pandora’s box that resulted in Bitcoin’s (BTC) recent price nosedive and cited the digital currency’s sustainability. With that in mind, miners are now reacting to this and pretty much debunk what the billionaire previously tweeted.
Core Scientific hitting back
Kevin Turner – CEO of the blockchain and AI hosting firm Core Scientific, recently spoke with Bloomberg’s Alix Steel and Amanda Lang as they talked about Musk’s statement about Bitcoin. He stated that BTC is 100 percent carbon net neutral, adding that blockchain technology is the driving force towards renewable energy.
Further, he explained that they got about 56 percent of the power they’re currently using from renewable resources. As for the balance, Turner said that they’d purchased it from the National Wind Renewable Energy certificates from North Dakota.
When asked for the remainder of their source of power that’s not renewable, the CEO responded that only nine percent of it is coal as this figure continues to decline. This is in comparison to 19 percent of the U.S.
Calling out the dogefather
Turner highlighted the fact that blockchain has been driving a push into renewable energy as these sources are more efficient and highly effective. He even revealed that by 2035, power manufacturers with power contracts are planning to run on zero coal, and they completely back this endeavor up.
There was even a part in the interview where he called out Musk where he said, “Hey, if you’re worried about that, process your Bitcoins with Core Scientific because we’re 100 percent carbon neutral.” As for his response to the question as to how they would deal with a key man risk like Musk, Turner replied, “I can’t speak for Elon. I can only respond when it’s not factual.” “When we got into the conversation is when they began to really veer off course and not dispose of the truth.”
