Lisk organises HackOnLisk- first online hackathon

Lisk is organising a one of its kind program HackOnLisk, the first online hackathon for the Lisk ecosystem. The prizes will be awarded to winners on 23 July, 2021.  

In one of its kind programs that Lisk is all set to organise. HackOnLisk, the first online hackathon for the ecosystem. To celebrate the first upcoming Mainnet launch of Lisk Core 3.0.0, the foundation has brought the hackathon for the Lisk community. Lisk is all thrilled to invite the first of ite online hackathon where there will be a plethora of activities, exchange of ideas along with the best prizes to offer will be a part of this hackathon. 

The announcement of the hackathon was made during the Lisk.js 2021. The hackathon will be hosted on DevPost platform giving the opportunity to all to reach an existing blockchain developer community. Under hackathon, all the participants will have to build a blockchain application with the latest Lisk SDK using JavaScript. 

Requirement to participate 

To win the hackathon, the individuals and the already formed teams or participants are required to build a blockchain application with the Lisk SDK 5.1.0 using JavaScript. The applications will be accepted from various industries and fields like lending, stablecoins, NFT marketplaces, Collectibles, Prediction Markets, social media networks, DAOs, and Oracles. 

Prizes galore

As part of the competition, the winners will be awarded with the prizes. The prizes are divided into two categories namely main prize and bonus prize. A total of $33,000 worth of prizes are there along with other prizes will be awarded to the winners. There are three main prizes for the winners at the first place, second place and third place. 

The bonus prize of Lisk Community Choice Award will be decided through public voting and two partner prizes will be given away by BTC-ECHO and WeAreDevelopers.

The panel

The jury consists of the stalwarts from the industry. The jury will be made of both internal and external judges who will select the five winners of HackOnLisk online hackathon. Max Yakubowski, Opinion Editor from Cointelegraph, Ray Salmond, Head of Markets from Cointelegraph, Sven Wagenknecht, Editor-in-chief from BTC ECHO, David Wachsman, CEO from Wachsman, Shusetsu Toda, Lead Backend Developer from Lightcurve, Manu Nelamane Siddalingegowda, Lead Backend Developer from Lightcurve, Max Kordek, CEO and C0-founder from Lisk and Oliver Beddows, CTO and Co-founder from Lisk forms the jury. 

All of the jury members will be selecting the winners on the following criteria:

Contribution to the Lisk ecosystem

Under this category, the judges will see how useful the blockchain application is for the Lisk ecosystem and the decentralization of the web as a whole (25%).

Originality and Creativity

The judges will be looking at how new the blockchain application is (25%)

Technical difficulty

Under this, the judges will check the level of skill or knowledge required to build the blockchain application (25%).

User Experience

The judges will check how intuitive and understandable the submission is for the users (25%). 

The Lisk Community Choice Award prizes will be determined by the number of votes received by participants in the form of public voting. The other two bonus prizes will be given to the hackathon partners WeAreDevelopers and BTC-ECHO. The prizes will be given based on their preferences. 

Registration process and timeline 

The registration for the hackathon is open till July 23 and the deadline for the application to be submitted is 9 July. Later the judges will take two weeks to judge and vote the winners of the hackathon. The winners will be announced on YouTube live on 23 July.
