Marvel Entertainment said on Thursday that it has teamed up with Orbis Blockchain Technologies to launch non fungible tokens, or NFTs, and digital collectibles on the VeVe marketplace app later this year. The NFTs will feature digital artifacts and comic books that Marvel fans may exchange and exhibit in virtual showrooms, according to the entertainment firm. Marvel’s Vice President of Business Development and Strategy Daniel Fink informed that Marvel fandom can now start to get their digital collectibles through NFTs. . All Marvel digital collectibles will be minted on the blockchain and accessible for users to buy and trade using the in-app currency Gems on VeVe’s secondary marketplace (GEM). The VeVe app takes credit card payments for tokens and already has digital collectibles including characters from DC Comics, Star Trek, and other properties. Wolverine, Spiderman, Iron Man, and Captain America are some of Marvel’s most well-known characters.

Despite the fact that Marvel has been mostly absent from the crypto realm, independent artists may still sell work utilizing well-known characters. Since December 2020, the VeVe marketplace has reported selling over 580,000 NFTs. According to Cointelegraph, NFT trade volume in the space may reach $175 million by October, with a $470 million market capitalization. The first Marvel comics were published in 1939, but the company’s entertainment division was established in 1998 and is located in New York City. The income of the corporation, which employs 1,786 people, is expected to be $366 million each year. Marvel has collaborated with Orbis Blockchain Technologies Limited, which runs the Veve Digital Collectibles App, for the NFT project.

The app is available for both iOS and Android. Marvel fans may use the app to purchase and sell the company’s unique items. Veve app users may also hunt for uncommon (and even secret-rare) NFT comic books and memorabilia, and showcase their hard-earned collection in fully customized virtual showrooms..
