Decentraland is a 3D virtual reality platform powered by the Ether blockchain. On the platform, Banquet, a dApp Craft studio, is planning to pay homage to the historic Apollo 11 lunar landing event. To release Apollo 11-52 inside Decentraland, the Aldrin Family Foundation and frequent NASA collaborator Nick Graham have collaborated. It’s impressive to witness the stunning achievement of the moon landing after 52 years in a virtual world format. Notably, the activation is set to occur on July 24, 2021, at 3:50 pm UTC.

Space has become more dynamic than ever

Nick Graham is a frequent NASA collaborator. He will be helping as one of the members of the upcoming virtual lunar landing project. Nick stated that we are in the nascent period of the new space age. Hence, it is the best way to celebrate the Anniversary with a collection based on the OG of Space: Apollo 11. Moreover, he noted that the firms globally are rapidly developing their civilian astronaut programs. Indeed, space has never been this dynamic over the last 50 years.

Spirit of Apollo 11 to the Decentraland metaverse

Nick is one of the world’s leading space-themed fashion designers. According to Matt Bond of Banquet, their crew began as strangers that spanned multiple generations. Indeed, they were hailed from all over the globe.

In the current scenario, the entire crew is inspired by a shared goal of delivering the spirit of the evergreen Apollo 11 mission to the metaverse.

How will the firms achieve their goal?

A donation will be made to benefit the Aldrin Family Foundation (AFF) to achieve such goals. AFF is a non-profit organization offering STEAM-based educational tools. This organization helps prepare the next generation of space travellers.

Notably, Nick’s long-time support has already helped the organization raise thousands of dollars to create the explorers of tomorrow.

The virtual will use Polygon blockchain

The upcoming wearable collection on Decentraland is dedicated to sustainability. Seeing the environmental concerns globally, the project has plans to use Polygon (former Matic Network). It is considered that Polygon mining is 95% more environmentally friendly.

According to Dr Andrew Aldrin, the President of AFF, the virtual event will expose an entirely new generation to the excitement of space.
