Himamauli Him Das will be the new acting director of the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). She has replaced Michael Mosier who will be leaving the office by the end of the week.
Himamauli Him Das will be the new acting director of the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Das is a part of the U.S. Department of Treasury and has succeeded Michael Mosier. Mosier will be leaving the office of FinCEN by the end of this week. He will be moving forward with a new opportunity in hand.
Das is a national security expert with experience at the White House, National Security council, national economic council, and Departments of States and Treasury. Das will be an acting director till the time there is no permanent Director appointed for FinCEN.
On his appointment, Das said that he will be returning to the Department of Treasury to combat money laundering as well as disrupt illicit financing as technologies have become more sophisticated and threat prone.
Happy to be part of the FinCEN, Moiser on his leave said that the department worked tirelessly to help advance the integrity and innovative strength of the financial system. Now, with Him’s and Deputy Director AnnaLou Tirol’s leadership, FinCEN will continue to protect the safety, self determination and financial security for the people of America.
Before joining FinCEN, Das also held the position of Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of CFIUS advisory series at K2 integrity. Das has been awarded various accolades for his work. He had spent most of his career in combating illicit financing.
Das has formerly served as the counsellor to the Department’s General Counsel. He has also served as an Assistant General Counsel for International Affairs. In his long career span, Das has also served as Deputy Legal Advisor at the National Security Council and attorney at the state department. He played a very important role in drafting the domestic and international framework to combat terrorist financing and the development of the USA Patriot Act.
Das has also worked in developing innovative technologies and deploying them to help banks and financial services firms that monitor transactions and customers to prevent and identify illicit finance. He has also advised on cryptocurrency policy and enforcement developments.
Das has got the degree of a J.D. and M.P.P. from the University of California at Berkeley, completed M.Sc. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Astrophysics, planetary and atmospheric sciences and a B.S. in physics from the University of Berkeley.
