According to a report shared by a local news outlet, the move was facilitated by Stake.com, a digital assets casino, and sports betting site. The website also doubles as the premier league’s official shirt sponsor. Moreover, it is revealed that the firm has paid for the addition of the hyped asset emblem to the sleeve of the club to promote the coin.
Watford previously sponsored Bitcoin
It is worth noting that Watford is not the first time having such a crypto-related shirt. In 2019, the club was sponsoring another crypto betting site, sportsbet.io. The website was one of the club’s major sponsors and it wore the name of the brand in its jersey. At the time Bitcoin was written on the sleeve of the shirt during the entire season.
However, it is known that as part of the latest deal, the main shirt sponsor is Stake.com. The deal will be worth about £700k ($970k) to the Premier League newcomers. Furthermore, the deal could break the previous pacts or sleeve partnerships with Bitcoin of £1 million if it gains global traction.
