Hackers proposes false poll on Terra’s Mirror protocol

Mirror Protocol of Terra, is an in-house synthetic assets protocol which is facing some sort of scam hack. The public blockchain network Terra has confirmed that there seems to be an ongoing scam attack through its official governance poll on the protocol. Notably, The attackers have launched a public poll on the official website of the protocol which is falsely proposing a freeze on the community pool. According to some experts, if the attack is executed as planned, the attacker would receive 25 million MIR tokens, where each of the tokens are worth $2.62 at press time.

Mirror protocol is under attack

According to an official announcement, the attacker launched a public poll on the official website of the protocol. The proposal asks to freeze on the community pool in case of a scam. According to the Poll ID: 211 that was named as “Freeze the community pool in case of scam”. Notably, the scammer proposes such an upgrade of safer community governance rules in case of a hack.

According to experts, if the hacker manages to get a positive response, 25 million MIR worth around $64 millions would be sent it’s address.

Attackers initiated Proposal 185 on Terra

Mirror Protocol has warned the community and has seen a sizable increase in the number of ‘NO’ votes. Moreover, the system confirmed the security of the funds. According to WuBlockchain, the hacker has commenced Proposal 185, which is disguised as a request for cooperation with Solana, effectively trying to defraud MIR tokens from the community pool. 

Furthermore, the hacker’s poll will remain publicly available for voting till next month. Following the scenario, the brains behind the Mirror Protocol established Poll ID:212. According to the warning, the team asked to vote ‘NO’ to any Poll sending the community funds out, like the Poll ID: 211 asks to send 25 million MIR.

Mirror’s team has identified six other polls

Mirror Protocol has also identified six more such polls besides the attacker’s one. Those polls were ID: 185, 198, 204, 206, 207 and 208.These Polls on Terra have attempted to substantially drain the community pool. Notably, Poll ID: 208 is the second attack on the mDOT which was created by the same illicit actors.
