  • Founder of Cardano Blockchain and co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain, Charles Hoskinson, discloses his plans to “build a financial operating system” in Q2 2022 for making crypto DeFi services accessible to Africans.
  • Cardano has also partnered with Tanzania to render its people with social and digital identity and financial empowerment.
  • ADA or Cardano has been experiencing sluggish price action for some time now, even after coming back to 850% over the past year. According to coinmarketcap, Cardano stands at $1.45 at the time of writing.

In a statement, the founder of IOHK, Charles Hoskinson, said that in Q2 2022, he would “build a financial operating system” that will provide Africans access to DeFi Services such as loans.

Hokinson disclosed this in a Christmas live broadcast on YouTube while sharing his Cardano’s plan for the year 2022 and achievements of the past.

Reflecting on the growth of Cardano and the entire crypto industry, Hokinson said that the revolution of NFT (non-fungible token), the boom of the DeFi ecosystem, and hacks of crypto DeFi projects is leading to a loss of more than $10.5 billion in 2021 itself.

The Input-Output developer also believes that many projects in the crypto sphere, instead of operating on rigorous engineering, rely on “a hope and a prayer,” and he is assured that such projects wouldn’t be successful in the long run.

He said, “It’s very hard to do this kind of engineering, and it’s very hard to do this kind of engineering right and with an eye in foresight for the future.”

He also said that the two million assets, mostly NFTs, have been issued on Cardano. He added that over 127 projects are currently working on code to create dApps or decentralized applications on the network, with 20-30 pipelines ready to launch in the span of the next three months.

He has informed that Cardano’s plan also includes Africa, and the project aims to increase its influence in the continent in the coming year.

Encouraging cooperation within the crypto sphere, the founder of Cardano expressed that he is tired of “Maximalism” and “tribalism.”

Hoskinson declared that the Cardano Foundation also intends to “build a financial operating system” in Q2 2022 to render Africans DeFi services.

“My goal for the second half of 2022 is to figure out how to put all the pieces together to get an end-to-end microfinance transaction on Cardano,” he added.

“So that a real person in Kenya or somewhere with a blockchain-based identity and credit score, stablecoin on the other side, Cardano is the settlement rail. Peer-to-peer, person-to-person, click a button, the loan goes to them. They pay it back, (and it) goes to the other side.”

With its emphasis on Africa, the Cardano Foundation aims to modernize the continent and bring equality and balance around the globe.

Earlier this year, Cardano also signed a partnership deal with Tanzania to provide residents with financial empowerment and social and digital identity.

In August, IOHK also collaborated with the European Business University of Luxembourg to broaden the educational opportunities for students in the African continent.
