For quite some time, there were no updates about the signing of deals between sports events or teams and crypto firms

On 23rd June, an announcement came from the National Hockey League and Sweet about their multi-year partnership. North American Ice Hockey League partnering with NFT marketplace Sweet would bring further opportunities for such firms to the sports events. The announcement further stated that Sweet was designated as the official NFT Partner and Official NFT Collectibles Marketplace by the NHL, NHLAA and NHLPA.

This partnership would enable NHL to create a whole range of such NFT projects with uniqueness given the long-term relationship. Through this multi-year relationship, they can even offer new chances for their fans and followers to collect these digital art pieces to grow their collections. Further, NHL claims that it will enable its users to buy, sell, trade and acquire those digital assets that would be exclusive and never offered before in NHL history.

NHL NFT Marketplace on the platform of Sweet will offer a satisfactory interaction experience for the users on the entire NHL network. CEO of Sweet NFT Marketplace, Tom Mizzone, stated that they are honoured due to this partnership for a launch having an industry-first approach, with a globally renowned organization such as NHL.

Further he added that in-play gamification feature’s utilization establishes a quite different and interesting connection with art pieces and experiences. As the new season begins in 2022-2023, the NHL Marketplace on Sweet seems to launch in October this year.

According to NHL, the stand custom-built stand-alone NHL platform by Sweet will represent the moments from current and past instances along with the iconic elements that occurred during the game in non fungible tokens form. Additionally, the performance of a player will also have its impact on some NFTs that are subject to be dynamic and change with time. This would also include NFTs’ surprise packs that would be placed to be seen in cinematic game clips from NHL seasons across past and present or in 3D interactive trophy chambers.

The announcement also made it clear that for the first time, the NHL, NHLPA and NHLAA will join together to provide digital art pieces containing recent and older video clips and several other artifacts from all over the League. These are said to highlight experts and top players from NHL from both past and present.
