On 28th June, 2022, world’s richest man Elon Musk turned 51. He is known for his achievements throughout his life that made him what he’s today, one of the most successful tech entrepreneurs and rich investors in the world.

Elon Musk unzipping opportunities with Zip 2
Elon Musk’s innovative journey started from the creation of an online business directory called Zip 2, that he founded with his brother. Zip 2 was a huge success that was later acquired by Compaq Computer Corporation for a significant $300 million. This was huge and enough money from Elon Musk about $10 million, using which he could have thought of a lavish life. But instead of this took his money and with the help of it, founded an e-payment company named X(dot)com.
Elon Musk becoming your Payment Pal with PayPal
X(dot)com soon merged with software company Confinity and was renamed as a very well known online financial giant today, PayPal. However Elon Musk got expelled by the board members but in 2002, when eBay bought PayPal for $1.5 billion, Musk received his share of $180 million from this sale. This staggering amount of money was also enough for Elon Musk but he went on with another ambition.
Sky is not the limit for Elon Musk, with SpaceX
Elon Musk started his new project in early 2002, when he founded Space Exploration Technologies, popularly known as SpaceX, where he invested $100 million of the money he received from sale of PayPal. Musk has ambition to minimize the cost of spaceflight upto ten times and a super ambitious plan to colonize Mars.
After going through so many struggles and tough phases, SpaceX today is one of the leading private companies in the space exploration sector which has received many contracts including from Nasa. SpaceX has developed the technology of reusable orbital rockets successfully in the form of SpaceX Falcon 9 in 2016. Today the company stood at a valuation of massive $125 billion.

In 2003, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded an electric vehicle company named Tesla. In 2004, Elon Musk led Tesla’s Series A funding round and joined the company as chairman. In 2007, founder of the company, Eberhard, was expelled from Tesla, and then Musk became the new CEO. Under Elon Musk’s leadership, Tesla has seen massive success where it changed the narrative of electric cars while bringing electric supercars that became everyone’s favorite.
Chasing artificial intelligence
Following his interest in artificial intelligence and considering its future, Elon Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015. It is a non profit organization that works towards the studies and research on artificial intelligence and its various aspects.
Green Energy, Solar Energy
Looking at the potential of solar energy and taking steps towards green energy, Elon Musk brought up the idea of a company focusing on solar energy. In 2006, Musk gave working capital to his cousins Peter and Lyndon Rive to start operating the company, SolarCity. In november 2016, Tesla acquired SolarCity for about $2.6 billion.

The potential of Elon Musk bringing ideas on the ground of reality was proven once again when he went on to co-found Neuralink. It is a research venture with the goal to work upon the brain-machine interfaces or BMIs. These chips are expected to get implanted into the human body or skull.
