  • Cardano is ready to go for an eccentric upgrade of its codebase. The Hard fork dubbed Vasil is named after well-known mathematician and Cardano (ADA) enthusiast Vasil Stoyanov Dabov.
  • The update contains four Cardano Improvement Proposals (CIPs), including CIP-31, CIP-32, CIP-33, and CIP-40.
  • The Vasil Hardfork is different and special as it addresses a bearish downturn and the requirements of the dApps ecosystem.

Cardano (ADA) blockchain continues to be a leading cryptocurrency by market cap even after receiving a fair amount of criticism. In terms of active applications, its dApps ecosystem is rising, therefore making Vasil hard fork, one of the most awaited blockchains events in 2022.

Cardano’s Vasil hard fork: What Is Happening?

Cardano, a leading Proof-of-Stake blockchain and high-performance hosting platform for decentralized applications, is all set to undergo an eccentric upgrade of its codebase. The hard fork is named after a well-known mathematician and Cardano (ADA) enthusiast, Vasil Stoyanov Dabov. Vasil recently passed away.

What’s The Update About?

Four Cardano Improvement Proposals (CIPs) include CIP-31, CIP-32, CIP-33, and CIP-40.  The updates will mainly reconsider data processes Cardano (ADA) to make it developer-friendly and more resource-optimized. In addition, the changes will boost the growth of a Cardano-specific programming language, Plutus.

Cardano: How Is It Different?

  • Contrary to early blockchains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin, Cardano (ADA) also uses Proof-of-Stake consensus, which is considered more eco-friendly than PoW and is the democratic and inclusive solution for blockchain systems.
  • At the same time, Cardano is also suitable for running decentralized applications (dApps) of all types. In addition, Cardano’s ecosystem also has its own programming language called Plutus and Marlowe, a low-code tool for DeFi development.

Most Significant Update: Introducing Vasil hard fork

Usually, the announcement of Cardano makes headlines in Web3 media since Cardano(ADA) doesn’t have a whitepaper and a roadmap. However, the Vasil Hardfork is different and special as it addresses a bearish recession and the needs of the dApps ecosystem.

Looking at the increasing popularity of Cardano’s smart contracts in dApps, Vasil Hardfork was first announced in early 2022. The dApp onboarding process is set to become more straightforward, which will make the operation faster and less expensive.

The volume of transactions is going to be reduced under the updates included in Vasil hard fork; the execution has become more resource-optimized. The DDoS protection of Cardano(ADA) will be upgraded, and the transaction logic will be optimized once the Vasil update is live.

Cardano blockchain has gone through many hard forks earlier. Multiple assets support was added for Mary, while Alonzo introduced smart contracts functionality. Interestingly, Cardano is the only leading blockchain with a one-of-a-kind mechanism designed to organize network upgrades that run smoothly with less friction.

There was no specific timeline for Vasil. Developers of Cardano from Input-Output Global are stress-testing Vasil mechanisms on testing networks as of late June 2022. Mainnet of Cardano’s Vasil is now scheduled for release by the end of July 2022.
