Vitalik Buterin Isn’t Positive About Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse
Since Mark Zukerberg changed the name of his organization, interest in the metaverse has risen to the top. Reason being the most admired social media network among the users. Before this, a few people across the world knew the true potential of this fascinating concept. But people do not believe easily in something until they witness it being utilized by some popular entity.
Though Zuck Bucks is really excited about this, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is not sure that Meta’s plans to build the virtual realm will succeed. In fact, he thinks that it will ‘misfire.’ He does not hold any pessimism towards the metaverse, but he believes that attempts by any persisting organization to develop the digital worlds may not succeed at all. He said all this while responding to a Twitter thread.
Meta CEO recently announced a virtual store for Meta Avatars. The users can now acquire a variety of accessories to show off to their friends in the virtual world. It also introduced Meta Pay, a payments network that will also contribute to the payments network in the metaverse. The company has tried their hands in developing digital currencies before, but tasted failure only.
Many tech giants are in the race to develop their own metaverse. Apple is currently the most fierce contender Meta can face. The competing organization is working on AR/VR headsets which they were supposed to unveil during the Worldwide Developer Conference 2022. But due to some technical issues, they had to postpone the revelation.
Vitalik Buterin Praises Shiba Community
In another Twitter post associated with the Vitalik Buterin Ph. D Fellowship in Artificial Intelligence, he praised the Shiba Inu community. He thanked everyone who made the initiative possible. This program is focused towards students doing 5 years of Ph. D and will fund their studies to continue their work. The initiative has plans for further extension for the funds in future.
