Axie Infinity (AXS), the popular Play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain game, is making efforts to lure its users towards a new game mode called Axie Infinity Origin. The team has abolished the token rewards from its classic game mode. The team also announced the discontinuation of Smooth Love Potions (SLP)’s minting from its classic mode. Smooth Love Potion (SLP) tokens are earned through the Axie Infinity game. At the time of writing, the price of SLP was trading at $0.005311, down 5.96% in the last 24 hours.
The SLP rewards will be transferred to their new game mode, informed the team. Therefore, there will be no minting for 30 days. The team will be conducting a monitoring phase to search for bugs, exploits and abuses.
The team also pointed out that the transition to the new game from classic will help “balance the SLP economy.” Besides removing the rewards, the team will also enable the use of SLP to make various in-game boosts like charms and runes in the new mode for adding utility to SLP.
To balance the economy for the SLP token, Axie Infinity cut out the SLP rewards for the daily rewards and daily quest rewards in classic mode, back in February. The token is still 98.7% far from its ATH of $0.39 in July 2021, even though the team continued to make economic adjustments.
The non-fungible token(NFT) game accounts for around two-thirds of all blockchain game NFT transaction. It is also responsible for popularizing the P2E model. According to NonFungible, the token information website, the project demonstrated $3.5 billion worth of NFT exchanges.
In July, the NFT transaction volume for the project increased by 205%. Even though the performance of crypto tokens of the Axie Infinity project wasn’t that good. Jeff Zirlin, the co-founder of Axie Infinity, said the project is “healing,” pointing to the positive reception of the game’s NFT land staking feature.
