  • Horizon Worlds is a metaverse platform developed by Meta.
  • Since the organization’s rebranding as Meta, it has primarily shifted its focus towards metaverse.
  • They are trying to implement a creator economy similar to the Roblox and Fortnite.

Meta Focusing On Creator Economy

Since Mark Zuckerberg changed the title of the organization from Facebook to Meta, they are primarily concentrating on metaverse development. They have invested billions of dollars in their metaverse platform Horizon Worlds to develop a creator economy like Fortnite Creative and Roblox. Though the creators and brands are building in this virtual world, it still lacks the crowd they are supposed to attract.

Meta’s goals for developing the metaverse are still in its infancy. Fortnite and Roblox are ahead in this race as they have already established themselves as leading metaverse platforms attracting a lot of daily users, owing to their organic growth of creator economies. Creators are already generating revenue streams in these virtual worlds by creating customized digital experiences for several marketers.

The organization is planning a similar type of brand economy Fortnite and Roblox have since its emergence. But they are not going through the long growth phase of the aforementioned rivals. Roblox initially entered the market as a children’s game before experiencing success as a marketing platform.

Horizon Worlds Still Lacking A Large User Base

Meta’s Horizon Worlds is still waiting for more users to visit their ecosystem. Alex Chandler, creative director of Vidyuu said that the platform is witnessing around 300K to 500K users currently, which is really considering the success of Meta. With respect to the user traffic, Roblox almost crashed following the entry of Chipotle’s “Boorito Maze” when around 30,000 users tried to access the particular space in a few minutes.

Despite this issue, Horizon Worlds still have the potential to escalate the numbers in future. They can make use of social media platforms to promote themselves via VR activation of popular brands like the Wendyverse currently available in their virtual realm.

Horizon Worlds is cementing its position in the metaverse sector. But the slow user growth can affect Meta’s plans to develop a successful digital space. This is because the organization’s strategy of acquisition is overshadowing the organic growth on the platform, which should be a core focus if we are talking about growing number of users.
