Telegram is a globally famous messaging platform. Chief Executive officer of Telegram Pavel Durov indicated a signal of the integration of some Web3 services into the platform.

TON is an ecosystem that was dropped by Telegram in 2020 because of a restraining order requested by The U.S Securities and Exchange Commission to sell alleged unlisted securities.
Pavel Durov is concerned about the success of a TON auction on the TON network, where more than 2k domains were sold for the highest price of $260k.
Pavel stated, “If TON has been able to achieve these results, imagine how successful Telegram with its 700 million users could be if we put reserved @ usernames, group and channel links for auction.”
Per the auction report, domains like the casino.ton and bank.ton were sold at the highest prices.
The formation of a Web3 marketplace would let users that currently own Telegram usernames sell to interested third parties and receive payment for this digital property in the same way an NFT can be sold.
The proposed marketplace could also contain sticker packs and emojis. It might also expand to group names whose identities could be brought by the companies or interested third parties.
Pavel exemplified that this initiative could be built on top of the TON network quickly as the company already knows about and understands the system’s smart contracts structure, given that it was originally designed by Telegram.
Pavel exemplified the initiative and underlined that “When it comes to scalability and speed, TON probably has the best technology to host such decentralized sales … we are inclined to try out TON as the underlying blockchain for our future marketplace.”
