NBA Collab With Sorare to Launch NFT-Based Fantasy Basketball Game

  • In its official release, NBA announced the NBPA teamed up with Sorare to launch a fantasy basketball game.
  • In between the 2022-23 season, the game will be released.
  • The game will allow the fans to put their NFT-based digital collectibles into action.

NBPA Team-up With Sorare

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) joined Sorare on September 7, 2022 with a multiyear partnership. This team-up will give the first officially licensed NFT Fantasy Basketball game.

This game will give a new chance to have an interaction with the league to its fans. It will deliver an amazing fantasy gaming experience by providing the ability to create a lineup of NFT-based digital collectibles. It also represents their favorite players and teams to earn points by the real-time performance of NBA players.

However, Sorare have the rights due to the partnership to utilize the official NBA league and the logos of the team across its products.

Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner said on the partnership that, “Our partnership with Sorare will give NBA fans an entirely new way to engage with our teams and players. With Sorare’s emerging NFT fantasy platform, we see significant opportunities to broaden our community of fans and grow NBA basketball around the world.”

On the other hand, Nicholas Julia, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Sorare stated that, “Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world and we are excited to bring fans even closer to their favorite teams and players through Sorare: NBA.” And “The NBA has been at the forefront of digital experiences and collectibles and our game gives basketball fans the ultimate sports entertainment experience, where they can play like a general manager, own their game, and foster real-world connections.”

Tamika Tremaglio, NBPA Executive Director also added that, “Sorare has built an innovative gaming experience that creates a whole new way for fans worldwide to interact with and learn more about our players.” We are very excited about this partnership and the effect Sorare will have on the growth of the players and the game globally.”

The following partnership marks Sorare’s third with a U.S. sports league, cementing the company’s growth in the U.S. It also sees its expansion with two million registered users across 185 countries including Europe and Asia, at where the firm aims its rapid growth in soccer.
