September month of the year 2022, turned out to be crucial for several blockchain networks. Major blockchain networks within the space Ethereum (ETH) and Cardano (ADA) both went through upgrades. Apparently both the upgrades meant a lot for respective networks and their communities: The Merge upgrade on Ethereum and Cardano’s much-awaited Vasil hard fork.

However, following the Merge upgrade on Ethereum (ETH), Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson brought his grievances with the smart contract network. Hoskinson, who was also among the co-founders of Ethereum, said the network needed the Merge upgrade as it has intrinsic flaws.

The response of the Cardano founder came at a time when the whole Ethereum community was praising the event. Hoskinson’s reaction to the Merge acted as a party pooper for the ETH community’s celebrations.

The Reddit and Twitter thread of Hoskinson was full of damnation for Ethereum and the Merge. He stated that the Ethereum network’s foundation and community both were broken. Core developers of the network ignored the potential of the Ouroborus protocol as it could turn out to be a fix for the issue within the network that ultimately made them go for the Merge.

For Context, the Ouroboros protocol mentioned by the Cardano founder is primarily a proof-of-stake consensus protocol employed within the Cardano blockchain.

The instance of Hoskinson beefing out on the Ethereum network is not at all good in any circumstances yet inevitable though, given the rivalry between Ethereum and Cardano. Hoskinson was one of the co-founders of the Ethereum network during its development in 2014.

Hoskinson and Vitalik Buterin worked on the project together, but soon the clashes emerged. This started with the conflict of keeping the Ethereum network for-profit or not. Hoskinson wanted to keep the network an ecosystem for profit, on the other hand, Buterin wanted to keep the community open-source along with decentralized governance. Within six months, Hoskinson was made out of the project, and later on, he ended up founding Input Output Global which later on ended up founding the Cardano network.
