Anonymous accuses BAYC of trolling with esoteric symbolism

  • Without a shadow of a doubt, BAYC and Yuga Labs are hiding esoteric symbolism
  • The group wishes to portray light on the accusations
  • Anonymous has spent weeks investigating the allegations

A new video detailing the decentralized activist group Anonymous’s investigation into the use of esoteric imagery in the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, which began on August 14, has been released.

The group stated in the video that without a shadow of a doubt, both BAYC and Yuga Labs are complicit in knowingly branding their products with Nazi-related esoteric symbolism.

As the community investigates the “hidden in plain sight” trolling that Yuga Labs is accused of, the group wishes to shed light on the allegations and calls for a period of additional investigation and amnesty.

Yuga Labs denies the allegations

On June 24, Yuga Labs filed a lawsuit against conceptual artist Ryder Ripps, Jeremy Cohen, and “Does 1-10.” Yuga Labs denies the allegations. Cybersquatting, trademark infringement, false advertising, and false designation of origin are among the allegations.

Several weeks before the lawsuit was filed, Ripps created RR/BAYC. It has the same pictures as the original BAYC collection. He has always maintained that the goal of the RR/BAYC collection was to push the boundaries of digital images in relation to intellectual property and digital assets, as well as how these boundaries relate to the emerging non-fungible market.

Ripps has since responded, claiming that the lawsuit is an attempt to silence his claims that BAYC is connected to Nazism. For instance, the similarity between the BAYC logo and the Totenkopfy emblem, an elite Waffen-SS division.

Gordon Goner, a.k.a. Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano, vehemently denied the allegations in a Medium post, describing them as a crazy disinformation campaign. This is puzzling given that the team is made up of Jewish, Turkish, Pakistani, and Cuban friends.

Anonymous vowed to investigate

The claims could not be dismissed as a conspiracy theory after Anonymous spent the previous weeks investigating them. The group pledged to investigate.

They want to address the following in order to advance the issue further:

  • Holders: to inquire as to why so few individuals have questioned the allegations. In order to warn prospective NFT collectors, the group stated that they would concentrate on raising awareness of the claims, particularly in untapped markets.
  • Investors/endorsors/collaborators: To request an official response to the allegations, Anonymous referred to a number of parties, including Andreessen Horowitz, Mark Cuban, Tom Brady, Neymar Junior, Kevin Hart, Adidas, Coinbase, and Tiffany & Co.
  • Labs Yuga: In spite of Goner’s Medium post and other public denials, Anonymous wants to know why Yuga Labs hasn’t done anything to “remove these associations” from the brand or provided any clarity.

The group stated that, rather than engaging in hacktivism, it will only act by educating the public about the issue.
