Tech Giants Seeking Possibilities in the Metaverse

If you will go out and look for the trendiest technology almost every other company is looking towards, surely it will be the Metaverse. The concept is not a gimmick anymore, it’s real and the growing interest of companies and people can be taken as proof for it. Companies regardless of their sectors—tech or non-tech—seek possibilities for themselves within the metaverse.

The race of developing one’s own digital world is going on in its full pace and from small players to tech giants are involved in creation of either role or the entire metaverse in the space. 

When it comes to companies working towards developing metaverse, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta—formerly known as Facebook—takes the lead. It is one of the companies that took early interest in developing the digital space. In 2014, the company bought the prominent augmented reality and virtual reality devices manufacturer Oculus. In following years, the company rebranded itself from Facebook to Metaverse, which showcases the dedication of the company towards the subject. 

On the surface, the concept of metaverse sounds and upgraded version of video games. However, tech experts and companies recognize the true potential of the concept that it’s much more than just video games. Well someone from gaming interest surely have heard about NVIDIA and Epic Games. Both the companies became part of the discussion due to their interest and contributions towards developing the metaverse. 

Let’s not forget tech giants with their own dominant spaces—Microsoft and Apple. Both of them have their involvement in metaverse development. Microsoft is developing a number of metaverse focusing applications which run on the Mesh platform. In addition, it is also working towards building an all new augmented reality chipset with Qualcomm which would provide accessibility to new features within the metaverse

Meanwhile, Apple is creating Head-Mounted System (HMD) virtual meeting apps for Meta. The system will employ the physical hand and arm movements to the avatars within the digital world for real life experience.
