Axie Infinity is finally coming to Google Play Store. Sky Mavis, the creators of the game, announced that they have passed review and are now able to debut Axie Infinity: Origins on the platform. For a game that has made itself known among the crypto community, this is a big win for them considering the negative reception of NFTs from traditional gamers and $625 Million hack.

A Major Step For a Web3 Company

The company received a huge blow earlier this year as the hacker stole the aforementioned sum by benefiting from Ronin Bridge’s vulnerability in March 2022. The move reflects how well they have managed their wobbling ship in the crypto waters. Reports say that it will initially release on Play Store in Malaysia.

Initial Play Store version will allow limited features for the users. Players will not be able to earn the game’s official currency due to the platform’s policy. According to Sky Mavis, they will stick to their vision of a player-owner virtual nation. They added that “This is a new step towards opening our doors to the new generation of Lunacians.”

Like many other crypto assets, AXS, the native crypto asset of the Axie Infinity ecosystem, has lost considerable value since its peak in November 2021. Still it has managed to remain the leading metaverse game this year. While ApeCoin, the traditional asset in the BAYC ecosystem, holds the crown among metaverse tokens.

Axie Infinity (AXS) Price Analysis

The chart shows a constant downfall in the asset since mid-August. The price claimed a high of $28.22 on the last day of May 2022 following announcement regarding their Builders Program launch. The token saw more buyers during mid-November for a short span before going cold. The regression trend shows the virtual currency has seen enough buyers and it may see them exiting the positions.

Now there are a couple of aspects the investors may consider. Firstly, the game’s release on Play Store may attract more users to the ecosystem if everything goes well and traditional gamers accept the NFT game. Another point to take into consideration is that Yuga Labs has plans to release their Otherside metaverse at some point in 2023.

They recently announced that Activision Blizzard President is joining the team as the company CEO. This may transit a significant number of web3 gamers from Axie Infinity to Otherside, leaving the Sky Mavis’ game in turmoil.

Metaverse is still an infant industry but experts believe that it can grow tremendously in upcoming years. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, is already bullish on this concept but has failed to attract users on Horizon Worlds, company’s metaverse platform.
