  • Google’s Bard AI was criticized a lot recently.
  • Artificial intelligence will help in metaverse avatar development.
  • Microsoft announced a $69 Billion deal to acquire Activision Blizzard.

Google and Microsoft are two of the biggest tech giants depicting a fierce rivalry over a decade. Both the companies are currently involved in the ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) war. Recently, Google announced their chatbot dubbed Bard in response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Microsoft recently announced that they are investing $10 Billion on the platform.

AI Integration in The Metaverse

The Guardian, a British news media, raises a question as to who will win this chatbot race. They pointed out the recent vulnerabilities of Google’s Bard considering it delivered inaccurate answers to the users. Meanwhile, ChatGPT has proved to be more accurate in contrast to its rival. Microsoft says that they are using the technology behind OpenAI’s chatbot.

The company is investing heavily in technologies having potential to grow in the near future. They announced a $69 Billion deal with the Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard. Though the video game holding company does not deal with metaverse technology, Microsoft believes that it will help in metaverse development.

Gaming is an integral part of the metaverse considering it will be a digital twin to our physical spaces. Moreover, artificial intelligence will allow developers to create more life-like avatars (similar to the NPCs). The highlight here remains that both the acquisitions somehow connect to the metaverse.

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, recently said during Reddit AMA sessions that AI is a greater phenomenon in contrast to the metaverse. While the companies across the globe are speculative about the metaverse, Meta Platforms, the social media giant, is moving nonchalantly in this context. They changed their title in 2021 from Facebook to highlight that they have shifted their focus on metaverse development.

However, financial data shows that Meta has lost over $13 Billion via their Reality Labs division. Still, Zuck Bucks appears unaffected by the criticism. Metaverse is a growing phenomenon where artificial intelligence will become an important element in virtual spaces. With tech giants experimenting with new technologies, it will be worthwhile who will dominate this space in future.
