There’s a growing excitement among the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) community as the second trip of the otherside metaverse is getting closer. Yuga Labs revealed in their previous blog that the demo trip would occur on March 25, 2023. They highlighted that Team Captains will lead this short journey this time. While the company has finally revealed who these Team Captains are.

The first captain: Jimmy Wong
What: American Musician & Actor
Jimmy Wong is revealed to be the first captain of the trip. He is famous for the 2011 video “Ching Chong: Asians in the Library Song.” He has also portrayed a character dubbed Ted Video Game High School, a web series. The actor is an avid gamer, too, and won the Guinness World Record for identifying the most gaming characters in a minute in 2017.
The Second Captain, Brycent
What: Twitch Streamer and Axie Infinity Trainer & Coach
Brycent has partnered with Gary Vaynerchuk – an American entrepreneur and creator of the VeeFriends NFT collection – to pave the way for web3 mass adoption. He has also won Best Content Creator of 2022 at Gam3 Awards.
The Third captain: Lowbellie
What: Member of BAYC & Otherside Community, Artist & NFT Collector
The third captain is a member of BAYC and the Otherside community named Lowbellie. She is an artist and NFT collector. As of now, she is actively making moves in Web3.
The Fourth Captain: Cordell Broadus, aka Champ Medici
What: Web 3.0 Architect & Crypto Entrepreneur
Cordell Broadus, aka Champ Medici, a renowned web3 architect, and Snoop Dogg’s second son, is the fourth captain on the Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse demo trip. He founded Welcome to The Block, a web3 investment fund. He is also in charge of Doggfather’s web3 and NFT operational nuances.
Yuga Labs revealed their first trip in July 2022, which attracted around 4,300 visitors. The players also saw Kodas, mysterious new creatures in the BAYC universe. Moreover, the Bored Ape metaverse will feature other NFT collections, including CryptoPunks, MeeBits, Mutant Apes, and more.
The company has released a list of supported regions and times for the second trip of the upcoming BAYC metaverse. Australia, New Zealand, and Kazakhstan are among several revealed locations. Yuga Labs is reportedly releasing an official version of the game this year. However, the date is yet to be revealed.
Sales of Otherdeeds, virtual land plots on the Otherside metaverse, have increased by over 30% in a week, according to CryptoSlam data. Other Yuga Labs collections, too, were seeing rising interest, with HV-MTL NFT rising by 90% and BAYC by 1.60%. The latter remains the top collection, with a $1.5 Million trading volume in the past 24 hours.
With Yuga Labs backing the Otherside, the metaverse holds the potential to take on renowned names like Axie Infinity, Deentraland, Sandbox, and more.
