The South Korean cryptocurrency exchange is not a new addition to the cryptocurrency scams. It has repeatedly fallen in the hands of frauds.
Keeping all this in mind, they had recently tweeted, asking its users to be well aware before taking any steps or opening any site, which claims itself of being an official website of Bithumb.
Recently we have detected phishing websites and social network channels that impersonate Bithumb.

Some of the cases, where Bithumb had fallen prey to the hackers given here:
In March, the cryptocurrency exchange became the victim of a suspected insider job. All of this started after a suspicious withdrawal. Further, this withdrawal also immediately suspended all withdrawals on their platform.
However, when it came to the notice of the officials, it was too late. The culprit who performed this hack is still unknown to this date. The accusation of it being an insider job is primarily on the basis that there is no concrete evidence of outsider intervention. Therefore, it most likely has to be a Bithumb employee who stole the funds.
This story doesn’t end here. In June 2018, there was yet another hack performed, which helped them make off with substantial amounts of Ripple. This hack as coordinated by the North Korean hackers who go by the name Lazarus Group.
They have performed several hacks every year on various companies. However, post this incident, Bithumb promised its users that they would pay back any stolen funds bringing relief to them.
Further, in July was yet again hacked. At this time, Bithumb as considered to be the fourth-largest cryptocurrency exchange around the globe.
The unknown hacker gained access to a personal computer of an employee and ended up stealing information of more than 30,000 Bithumb users. Soon after this, the users started noticing that their accounts drained.
Another incident that took place recently was when an account named Whale Alert reported that somebody had just transferred 45 million XRP ($10,737,513) from Bithumb to a wallet with an unregistered owner.
Many individuals in the crypto community are reckoning that someone is accumulating XRP. On December 30, the XRPL Monitor account on Twitter had reported that a total of 64,000,000 XRP had moved from Bithumb to this same unknown wallet.
A data from the Bithumb website also reveals that since January 10, almost 128,000,000 had sent from Bithumb to this anonymous wallet in large transactions, sometimes several transfers per day.
Bithumb has stared that this account has been set up by Bithumb, and all transactions are taking place inside the Bithumb exchange.
In January 2020, Bithumb had tweeted warning its users about the phishing websites and social network channels that have been using the name of Bithumb and impersonating them.
They also urged the users that Bithumb Korea does not operate on the official Telegram channel, so one should not fall prey to it and check before taking access to this channel.
