Craig Wright To Personally Attend The Theft Mediation After Court Order

Craig Wright, the Australian computer scientist who claims to be the creator of Bitcoin, has been alleged of theft of 1.1 million Bitcoin (BTC) from Dave Kleiman. After repeatedly not listening and attending court, Craig Wright has now been ordered by the judge to attend the mediation to solve the lawsuit. The circumstances and the incidents that have led to this case have been more or less interesting.

Craig Wright’s Theft Allegation

Craig Wright has claimed himself to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. Last month, he copyrighted Bitcoin and it had led to controversy. But, this wasn’t the first time that Craig Wright had been in controversy relating to Bitcoin. Craig Wright has been alleged by Dave Kleiman’s family for stealing 1.1 million BTC from Dave Kleiman. This lawsuit was filed by Dave’s brother in February 2018 and it is still going on. Dave had died of natural causes in 2013 but his family filed the case due to the amount of Bitcoin stolen by Craig Wright alleged by them.

The amount worth stolen is almost US $9 billion at the time of writing this article. That much amount is why Craig Wright has been avoiding court appearances as it could lead to a big and lengthy lawsuit. The plaintiffs, that is the Kleiman family ordered Craig to show up at court for mediation and Judge Bloom officially made a statement for Craig Wright to personally appear for it. Wright has tried to dismiss the lawsuit before but Judge Bloom ordered the case to proceed.

Wright has requested to appear through video conferencing as coming there personally would cause him, in his own words “unjustifiable hardship”. Such negligence or fear of a lawsuit of such degree may make people suspicious about Wright’s credibility as Satoshi. While many have already dismissed him to be phoney, the believers have also started raising eyebrows as Craig Wright would gladly sue people who criticize him but won’t appear where his reputation and credibility might be in danger.
