The president of DFINITY, Dominic Williams, has stated that the Internet Computer is usually conceived as an alternative to the $3.8 trillion legacies IT stack.

Their second major milestone is of demoing a decentralized web app called LinkedUp on the Internet Computer, which can run on an independent data center in Switzerland.

Various milestones in the direction of the public launch of the Internet Computer would involve onboarding a worldwide network of independent data centers, establishing a thoroughly tested economic system, and along with it, a thoroughly tested Network Nervous Systems for configuration as well as upgrades.

The company has also said in their statement that Dfinity is working with a selected group of Fortune 500 companies, strategic consultancies, universities systems integrators, and venture capitalists.

They ended it by saying that they are not sure if they would be able to pass muster to take out Facebook, LinkedIn, and other tech giants. However, they would like to see where all these heads.
