The deputy of State Duma, Anatoly Vyborny, heads the CSTO PA’s Permanent Commission on Defence and Security. Recently, he has pointed out the connection between cryptocurrencies and international terrorism.
While giving an interview to Sputnik Tajikistan agency, he stated that in the previous few years, the use of digital in financing the activities of terrorist organizations had seen a drastic increase.
Further, the terrorists make use of cryptocurrencies. This is all happening while usage and trading of Bitcoin and other coins have been banned in Islamic states like Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The terrorists are still able to take advantage of the fact that this legislation can be interpreted simply by saying that the cryptocurrencies are not allowed but are not prohibited as well.
It has been noticed in Tajikistan that there have been various problems when it comes to the Internet connection. As a result, in the remote or isolated regions of the country, cryptocurrency transactions can not be processed. But, in the cities, where everyone has easy access to the World Wide Web, these transactions are made without causing any hassle and easy convenience. Banned organizations often use this trait.
Here, it should also be noted that the previous summer, Sergey Pospelov, who represented the CSTO organization, had declared the intentions of this structure so that they can develop recommendations for member countries on the issue of regulating the turnover of virtual currencies. As per him, the control system would help diminish the risks of illegal use of these cryptocurrencies.
