On January 31, Per the Press release shared with Thecoinrepublic, Blockchain platform Waves announced the launch of a not-for-profit charitable organization, Waves Association in Frankfurt, Germany, under the German tax code. The Association will unite all the key activities of the Waves blockchain platform and ecosystem, determining the priorities and directions for further development.
What is Waves Cryptocurrency?
Waves launched in 2016, the platform developed into an ecosystem consisting of a blockchain platform, a Cryptocurrency, and a DEX Decentralised exchange.
The Waves blockchain platform allows developers to create a custom token for their projects. The platform also provides a smart contract solution. The waves blockchain makes it easier for crowdfunding projects to issue their tokens easily without going through intensive cryptocurrency coding.
Waves DEX is a dedicated decentralized exchange for decentralizing trading, as it has integrated fiat currency gateways like USD/EUR/CNY right in the wallet.
Waves Association
Representatives of the Waves community from six European countries, namely Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Russia, established the Waves Association.
Waves Association is committed to stimulating global adoption of the Web 3.0 paradigm, through fostering research, governance of Waves ecosystem, and providing grants for the development of the Waves technology stack.
The mission of Waves association is to develop and deliver next-generation technologies for the creation of trustless digital ecosystems, decentralized collaborative environments, and organizations.
Waves association will work as a non-profitable organization for public benefit in the field of science and research, focused on Information technologies and the advancement of education and vocational training in the field of digitization.
Waves Association is also currently developing and implementing DAO-like tools and blockchain-based solutions for its decision-making and member engagement, including blockchain-based voting and decentralized governance.
The key Activities of Waves Association are:
- Stimulating global adoption of the Web 3.0 paradigm and supporting the growth of the Waves ecosystem.
- The development of the Waves protocol and making the open-source Waves software and other relevant blockchain tools and products available to the public.
- Providing grants for the development of the Waves technology stack, promoting the creation of third party decentralized applications (dApps), and supporting the development of decentralized payment systems.
- The Association conducts research and supports member-led scientific initiatives and working groups.
- It organizes events fostering innovation and improvement of programming and computer skills, as well as offers prizes and scholarships to software developers and blockchain enthusiasts, who contribute to the further development of the distributed ledger technologies and products based on Waves protocol.
