THETA.tv, a decentralised video platform, has partnered with Shout! Factory, a cult TV company, to expand the number of channels and content available on its platform. IN RECENT MONTHS, THETA.tv has announced a number of agreements, including a deal with Cinedigm to launch a 24/7 anime channel dubbed CONtv and a partnership with decentralised games platform Ultra. Shout! Factory, the company behind television cult shows like Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K), will launch its own channel on THETA.tv, as well as an MST3K 24/7 channel, as part of this latest move.
These will join a variety of genres already accessible on THETA.tv, such as MGM Studios’ classic films, live poker (World Poker Tour), live NASA events, and live-streamed virtual conferences, such as BlockDown, Consensus by CoinDesk, Crypto Asia Summit, and Virtual Blockchain Week. The move is part of THETA.tv operator Theta Labs’ ambition to expand the platform’s content in order to compete with centralised providers like YouTube and Twitch and persuade more people to consider utilising a decentralised alternative.
