Mysterious Thieves Loots Crypto Farm
Cryptocurrency has always attracted a lot of actors towards it. Whether they are investors or attackers. In a recent event, a crypto farm was compromised by a cluster of masked thieves in Kuchino village, Moscow Oblast. They stole several pieces of equipment from the crypto mining set up.
The crypto attackers entered the facility and handcuffed the guards to execute the plan. As per the local news media agency, mining equipment worth $18,000 was vanished from the farm. The stolen items include 4 containers and 4 Graphic Processing Units. The thieves are still out in the open.
A similar incident took place during 2021. This too was executed in Russian territory. As crypto mining has become popular in the last few years, it became a common practice for people to set up the mining equipment in their garage. This is where the thieves tried to enter. But he was eventually busted. The heist was estimated around $22,000.
Other Crypto Mining Thefts Around The Globe
Russia is not the only nation with such stories. These kinds of practices have happened in different countries before. Back in December 2017, some thieves executed a theft in Iceland which was dubbed “The Big Bitcoin Heist.” The attackers stole 600 graphic cards, power supply units, 100 processing units, motherboards and memory modules. The heist was estimated to wipe off $2 Million worth of equipment.
In another interesting event in Malaysia, Miri city’s law enforcement agency and Sarawak Energy the electric utility department played a joint operation where they seized 1,069 stolen Bitcoin rigs. But this is not the fun part. The twist came when the government decided to make a show, and literally rolled a road roller on the mining rigs. Quite Painful I Know!
Crypto mining industry has offered a lot of profits to the miners but it takes a lot of heavy equipment to extract the digital assets. It is really a big loss for the miners when they establish a facility with their hard-work but actors like mentioned here enter the game and exploit everything.
