In the Ukrainian city of Lviv, a legal court case is being processed for the theft of electricity from the Lviv Railway for crypto mining. The Ukrainian law enforcement group has filed a legal lawsuit against the theft of electricity, which up to 400,000 hrynia (units) were stolen or used without any notice.
The theft was brought to notice by the UNIAN agency with the aid and reference of the Communication Department of Ternopil Regional Police. The person who was engaged in the theft was a former head office of the Lviv Railway. He helped in underground mining using his official position for his personal gains as well.
He helped in the setting up of the Crypto mining rig in his office premises and the workshop of LZhD, the setup rig was then connected to the electric line of the railway network and began to steal from the mains to mine the cryptocurrency which was officially meant for the railway lines. Due to this reason, the Ukrainian Enterprise suffered damage worth of 400,000 units.
Similarly, in the previous year, electricity theft was reported for Cryptocurrency mining illegally. Now the former official head of the railway department is facing prison time for up to three years. This is not the first time that these cases are occurring.
There has been a reported increase in the mining activity worldwide, but the illegal activities surrounding them is also increasing due to the returns crypto can gain in a short time.
