Former US Judge To Serve As The New CFO of Coinbase

Coinbase has officially announced in a blog post that it’s new Chief Legal Officer will be Paul Grewal. He has replaced Brian Brooks who will be now acting as the head of the banking regulator. Brooks in March selected the first deputy comptroller at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency following which a total of $4.6 million of Coinbase’s stock options liquidated.

Grewal has a vivid financial and legal background. Prior to Coinbase hiring him as the CFO, Grewal was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Facebook. Here he had built up a team of over 200 who overlooked issues on regulations, commercial litigation, and so on. 

He has also served as the U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California from December 1, 2010 – June 3, 2016. 

A Brief Overview of Grewal’s Legal Background:

Grewal completed his Bachelor in Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1993. He got his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago in 1996. Soon after his degree, Grewal became a judicial clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Further, he became a legal practitioner of commercial litigation in Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. Moreover, he was also awarded the Best Lawyer under 40 titles by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). 

Grewal Has Contributed A Lot To Companies Like Google and Apple:

Over the period as the US magistrate judge, Grewal has looked over a thousand cases and is trusted by big institutions and individuals. Grewal has vast knowledge and experience over composite technical issues. He has played some commendable roles in big technology companies like Apple, Oracle, Samsung. He overlooked and studied major technical issues that have happened over the past 10 years. 

Grewal Will Overlook All The Legal Operations of Coinbase:

Coinbase in their blog post has said that Grewal as the new CFO will overlook all the legal operations in the global business and thus contribute towards the growth of the company.

Grewal, in an official Coinbase statement, said that he has come to understand what the open financial system has in store for the world. Coinbase’s talented and committed team of workers will help to convert a vision into reality.

Coinbase further explained that Grewal’s experience in technology, business, and a federal judge will help the company to become the leading business in the cryptocurrency world.
