Norton 360 has recently announced that they will integrate an Ethereum mining feature into their platform. Norton is famous for its world-class antivirus software. The antivirus provider informed the users that this new mining feature would roll out in just a few weeks.

Miners Compromise With Antivirus Softwares to Continue Mining

Mining essentially involves decrypting complex calculations in exchange for crypto rewards. However, mining poses a good number of threats to the security of the hardware. Over the past few months, the number of malicious activities and attacks have heightened. With millions of dollars lost in hacks and attacks, cryptocurrency mining demands enhanced security. Norton saw this as an opportunity to get into the mining sector quickly. Norton LifeLock previously commented that customers have compromised with the safety of their devices to continue mining for a very long time.

Mining Ethereum as a Solo Miner is Quite Troublesome

This is because most antivirus software falsely detects most mining programs as malicious. As a result, they have to deactivate to continue the mining operation. The company warns of saving unexamined code in their devices and storing earnings on a hard device that could potentially fail. Moreover, mining Ethereum all alone is quite challenging. One has to be strong on luck and powerful computing hardware to mine a single ETH token. Norton suggests creating a pool of miners. They can add their computing power and receive rewards according to their contribution.

However, there’s a drawback to this proposed model. It uses a massive amount of energy and may generate higher electricity bills for customers. Norton plans on adding many other cryptocurrencies to the feature later. Norton product executive Gagan Singh said that the company is proud to present an easy and safe solution to earn digital currency for coin miners. The feature allows users to mine crypto using a few clicks and without having to enter the crypto space.
