  • NFT becomes a new platform for celebrities to give back to their fans

The literal meaning of non-fungible is unique. Hence, a Non-Fungible Token is a unique asset that cannot be duplicated in the same form. These tokens are usually used to auction or sell off multifarious versions of art, especially digital art. It is very easy to get printed copies of art. However, only one sole person can own the original piece at a given time. Consider NFT purchasing as a digital counterpart of a physical collection of art. Apart from the functions that NFT serves, it has become quite famous for celebrities to launch animations and art in the form of an NFT.

Andy Murray stores 2013 triumph digitally as an NFT

Andy Murray, the Scotland star tennis player, recently served a non fungible token of the 2013 Wimbledon win. The tennis celebrity has created an image of himself through a crypto artist’s platform, Mike Winkelmann, who is also a millionaire. Joining hands with Mike, Murray plans to launch this NFT art before this year’s coming tournament and WENEW. The platform is called Beeple and the digital art portrays the classic and legendary win by Murray in the year 2013. The work will be put up for an inaugural auction around 2nd July to 5th July 2021. The 2013 win at the Scottish Grand Slam marked a moment of history for Scotland in 77 years by winning the males singles.

Scottish player wants to frame the proud moment in his life for his fans

Murray believes that the big moment in his life should be converted into something more artistic so that his fans can also feel it with him. Working with and hoping on the blockchain trend, Murray is not the only one who is surprising his fans. Along with the NFT auction win, the winner also gets 2 tickets for the Centre Court for the 2022 men’s Wimbledon finals, a chance to play tennis with the 34-year-old star player and signed souvenirs from Murray. Since the NFT can be bought only once, as they are one of a type, Andy is also releasing a few small winning moments along with the main auctional product.

What is an NFT?

NFTs work exactly under the concept of cryptocurrency but there’s a slight differing feature. Unlike crypto, NFTs are non-fungible. They are one of a type. A bitcoin can be traded from one person to another but the same NFT cannot be transferred while trading. These tokens don’t limit themselves to trade just art but tweets and memes as well. The first-ever NFT version of a tweet was sold for more than $2.5 million.

Why are NFTs becoming famous all of a sudden? They discard intermediaries. With the help of smart contracts, it maximizes market efficiency. It is a redesign of technology that has a tamper-free blockchain. The exponential increase in the adoption of NFT transactions has curated a very opportunistic market for art dealers and creators.
