  • Lionel Messi is largely regarded as the greatest player in football history
  • This isn’t the first time Lionel Messi has appeared in a non-footballing capacity
  • Bosslogic, an Australian artist who has previously worked for Marvel and Disney, created four artworks for the Messiverse

Lionel Messi, an Argentina legend, is largely regarded as the greatest player in the sport’s history, having won multiple professional and individual trophies throughout his career, including a record six Ballon d’Or awards. Messi’s brilliance isn’t limited to the pitch; he just joined with Ethernity Chain to produce Messiverse, an NFT collection of digitized drawings authorized by the man himself.

The unveiling of the Messiverse Collection

Messi revealed the Messiverse in a brief video posted to his Instagram account on August 4th. He compares soccer to art, saying that it is ageless, before inviting his audience to check out his first collection of NFTs on Ethernity. According to a press release, the superstar’s collection contains four works of art, each of which features him:

Man From the Future is the title of the first NFT. It portrays Messi in AI bionic form, having scored over 750 goals for both Barcelona and Argentina, including the most ever for a single club. Bosslogic imagines the future of football, showing the 34-year-old in cyber football leagues of the future.

In the second NFT, Worth the Weight, Messi takes on the role of Atlas, the Greek Titan who was tasked with bearing the actual weight of the globe on his shoulders. If you’ve ever witnessed Lionel Messi work his magic on the field for his club or country, you’ve seen him lead his side to victory in the face of tremendous odds.

The King Piece, the third Bosslogic NFT, has a look that is reminiscent of the Middle Ages. During the latter half of this era, the game of chess became increasingly popular, and Messi is depicted here as the king on the board, the piece that ultimately determines a game’s winner and a loser. The person who occupies the throne. In a tableau encrusted in gold, he is pictured lifting one of his record six Ballon d’Or awards, which are awarded yearly to the world’s finest footballer.

Later this month, a fourth NFT, designed by creative agency Impossible Brief and fully authenticated and licensed by Messi and Copa America, will be unveiled.

Each NFT on exhibit was created by Bosslogic, an Australian artist well-known on social media for his work with Marvel and Disney. The final NFT, which has yet to be revealed, will be unveiled on August 20th, the Messiverse’s premiere day.

For the first time since 1993, Argentina has won the Copa America, South America’s best national team championship. It was also Messi’s first big international title, an elusive triumph that would serve as a fitting conclusion to his famed Albiceleste career.

In an official statement, Bosslogic described the collection as a combination of works summarising successes, experiences, team love, and future accomplishments, focused mostly on the man himself.  Thanks to Ethernity, he has had the honor and privilege of collaborating with one of my favorite persons in the world and one of the GOATs of our time, Messi, on a series of pieces that will go down in history as his first unique NFT drop!

All of Messi’s accomplishments and awards, including 34 major club trophies highlighted by four UEFA Champions League titles, can now be commemorated in digital form with a collectibles drop that just signals the start of game-changing cooperation with Ethernity.

The Ascension of ERN

The NFTs have either been overwhelmingly positive or are likely to be: Following Messi’s statement, the ERN token, Ethernity Chain’s native token, increased in value by nearly 45 percent. Ethernity Chain is no stranger to price spikes of this magnitude. In March 2021, the token was valued at $74 and had even eclipsed Bitcoin as the top trending coin in the United States on a weekly basis.

Furthermore, the blockchain platform is known for its collaborations with other celebrities. Others, including pro hockey player Alex Ovechkin and former UFC champion Anderson Silva, have collaborated with Ethernity to launch their own collections. Ethernity Chain, according to its website, strives to create the most exclusive NFT library and reward its producers and community.
